Synopsis/Bio

Effects-based planning is a technique that originated in the 1990’s in the US military. The technique starts with the desired strategic effects and then works backward to understand the possible tactical actions that could be taken to achieve the desired effect. It has many applications in strategic and change management planning.

 By considering elements such as supportability, likelihood of success, consequences, and time criticality, EBP greatly assists the decision-making process and helps a team develop an agreed plan composed of well-understood actions. A purpose-built COTS product called Flying Logic will be used to facilitate the presentation.

Presented by: Ward Giannini

Ward is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with over 35 years as a software and systems designer and developer. His career spans multiple industries, such as aerospace, defense, textiles, automotive, and software and systems contracting as a developer and systems analyst. He is also skilled in process improvement, software quality assurance, Agile, and CMMI.  Ward has been at Walmart for 4 years and is currently involved in an IT division-wide operations improvement initiative.
