Synopsis

Imagine being the only Project Manager in an area that is new to Project Management.

 Martin Bailey has the unique opportunity as initially being the only Project Manager in a large University based Technical area. Martin is using this presentation at the University to outline the gains from Project & Portfolio Management, how it affects "me", standards, forms, the short term goals, the long term goals, how we can work together for progress, and more. A major point is how Portfolio and Project Management is valuable to the CIO & Deputy CIO, Managers, and the staff.

Speaker Bio:

Martin has been in IT for over 30 years as a mainframe developer, windows developer, unix developer, functional manager and project manager. Martin has a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, a Masters Degree in Project Management, and is PMP, Agile, and ITIL Foundations Certified. He is currently studying for the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner Exam. Martin assists the Chapter PMP Exam Preparation class by teaching Cost and is know for his "Logic of Formulas" that simplifies the Earned Value questions.

 Martin was with Walmart Technology for over 5 years. He worked as part of the Global eCommerce Project Team. He was involved in Pick-Up-Today, Ship-From-Store, Global Online Fulfillment (GOLF), Global Integrated Fulfillment (GIF), Ecommerce Integrations Center (EIC Services Factory) as well as some minor project work for ASDA and Pharmacy. He was involved in several international projects including Cash Office Efficiencies. His most recent work was in projects with the Security Team on one project that delivered 6 months early at a major savings and another project bundle that was ran as a KanBan project using Leankit to track 7 Work Packages that were initially their own individual projects.

 Martin is currently a Project Manager at University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in the IT Services Department. He has the privilege of being the only Project Manager. As a result he is introducing Project Management to a staff of 100 as well as outside teams, choosing the Project and Portfolio Management tools, assisting the CIO and Deputy CIO with Portfiolio prioritization and planning as well as other project  duties.
